About Bonifacio
Bonifacio Ferry Port is the main port in the south of Corsica and it is separated from the Italian island of Sardinia by the Strait of Bonifacio, which is only 7 miles wide. Bonifacio was been founded by Bonifazio, Marquis of Tuscany, in the 9th century. This gives it perfect links between the two islands with ferries that can all be booked through AFerry
The city is split into two; the old town (Vieille Ville) and the Upper city (la Haute Ville). Bonifacio is a little medieval town, with its narrow roads, flanked by old houses, situated on a long white limestone promontory that has been sculpted by the ocean into unusual and fascinating shapes. Furthermore, Bonifacio is a very popular tourist destination due to its proximity to some of the best beaches in Corsica.
There are notable sites worth visiting in and around Bonifacio such as 12th and 13th century's churches, including the Ste Marie Majeure and St Dominique, the 'Staircase of the King of Aragon' and The Aquarium de Bonifacio. Boat trips to the cave of Sdragonato are also available.
In Bonifacio you can enjoy other activities such as golf, shopping in the boutiques in town, enjoying great cuisine in one of the many restaurants as well as Bungee jumping, Mountain biking, Diving and Windsurfing.
