Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, after Corsica and Sardinia. The island enjoys hot, dry summers and is a popular destination for tourists from the UK. With beautiful beaches, clear blue sea and delicious cuisine, it's easy to see why. It is said that Cyprus is the birthplace of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, and procreation - and the island certainly lives up to that.

Travel in Cyprus

Bus services are reliable, comfortable and cheap in the South of Cyprus. However, they do not run frequently so do plan ahead. In the North, services are more frequent but are smaller and therefore more expensive.

Taxis running bus-style shared services are known as dolmuş. These run frequently and you can be picked up anywhere within city limits.

Car hire is the easiest way to get around the island, however using the ferry you can take your own car with you. In Cyprus drivers use the left side of the road, take extra care when driving in Cyprus as the "unwritten rules" of driving are different to those in the UK.


Things to do

Paphos castle is a stunning stone walled structure built on the harbour. The view from the top of the castle is magnificent and allows you to see Paphos in full glory. If you are interested in culture this sight should be near the top of your itinerary.

The Adonis baths are a beautiful area showcasing Cyprus tradition. They are located 12 kilometres from Pathos. The exotic trail allows visitors to see and bath in the two waterfalls. There is also a small café, watermill and photo gallery.

The WaterWorld waterpark in Ayia Napa has a variety of exciting water slides, log rolling, river trips spray column and geysers, to name Just a few of the features. This will keep a family occupied for most of the day and it's a great place to be in the hot dry summer.
