Getting around Russia
It is not recommended to drive in Russia because of the complex Russian driving rules and generally aggressive Russian driving, but instead to use the public transport system, which has a very good reputation. Trains are also a very good way of getting around such a vast country, with stops all over Russian towns and cities as well as trains to Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Czech Republic, Belarus, Ukraine and Hungary.
In Kaliningrad, there are ten tram routes and six trolleybus routes that are of generally very good quality. There are also plenty of bus routes to you from place to place around the Oblast. The public transport here is thorough, yet it can be incredibly overcrowded and quite slow during the rush hour, so try to avoid going home at this time.
Things to See
The main attraction of Russia has to be the capital and largest city; Moscow. Here you will be able to find the legendary Kremlin parliament building, which rivals London's Towers of Parliament in terms of skyline dominance; Red Square, possibly the most famous city square of all time and the Bolshoi Theatre, home to the incredible Bolshoi Ballet Troupe and an incredible theatre in its own right.
If you don't fancy walking all around this enormous yet breathtaking city, there are always boat tours around the city, where you will be able to sightsee whilst relaxing on one of the pleasant boats. If cities are not for you, then a trip to Russian Lapland to see Santa Claus will satisfy the child inside of you! Another one of Russian's incredible sights is Mamaev Kurgan, which is the site of the battle fought during World War II and is now home to a 83ft statue of Mother Russia wielding a sword above her head.
