About Igoumenitsa
Igoumenitsa is a beautiful small coastal town with lots of green, fantastic beaches with clear blue waters and green mountains surrounding the town.
Its original ancient name used to be Titani. During the 4th centure BC it was one of the most important towns in the Thesprotis Kingdom. Interesting archaeological sites can easily be reached from Igoumenitsa. One of the sites worth visiting is the archaeological site Phanote is about 20Km from Igoumenitsa.
Igoumenitsa Port
Igoumenitsa is the capital of Thesprotia prefecture in Greece. It is located on the east side of the Corfu Channel. The town is an important ferry port and a tourist centre, being a gateway to Western Europe, and a major hub for Adriatic Sea traffic. Ferries from Igoumentisa travel to Italy, mainland Greece and the Ionian Islands, and can all be booked through AFerry.

Igoumenitsa Ferry Port is linked to the Egnatia Highway which is a modern highway linking the port to major cities in Greece. The other roads are old and treacherous. Make sure you follow signs for the Egnatia highway and not city names.
Igoumenitsa can also be reached by Intercity bus from the Athens KTEL Intercity Bus Station and from the Thessaloniki KTEL Intercity Bus Station.
