Ferries to and from Portsmouth
Brittany Ferries, formed in 1972, is the leading ferry company on the western and central channel with Ferries to the North of Spain, France and Cork in Ireland. Brittany Ferries operates one of the most modern fleets on the Channel. Brittany Ferries latest ship, the mv Cap Finistère, started operating in 2010 and operates the Portsmouth to Santander and Portsmouth to Cherbourg routes. Onboard facilities include comfortable lounge areas, internet access and a wide range of bars and restaurants. Onboard some larger vessels you may also find cinemas, children's entertainment and discos.
Brittany Ferries économie, is a newly launched ferry service between Portsmouth and France and Spain. It is a 'no-frills' service, ideal for those looking to travel at the cheapest possible price. Etretat is the ship operating the new économie service. On board you will find a bar, movie lounge, seating area and en-suite cabins.
Condor Ferries offer ferry crossings from Portsmouth to Cherbourg in Northern France. Condor Ferries is also the only operator to provide a car ferry service to the Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey from mainland UK. All Condor Ferries ships have a range of onboard facilities. These include bars and dining areas. Onboard their faster and smaller ships you will find self service cafe outlets and snack bars. On their larger ships there are full restaurants.

Wightlink Ferries has fleet of 11 conventional car ferries and three fast catamarans capable of very high speeds. Wightlink ferries have onboard cafe-bar facilities, dog friendly areas and other amusements. Their catamarans may not have a full range of facilities but offer airline style seats and are aimed at daily commuters to the Isle of Wight.
Hovertravel ferries offers the fastest crossings across the Solent between Portsmouth and the Ryde in the Isle of Wight. Hovertravel's operate very high speed hovercrafts capable of carrying about 130 passengers and reaching speeds above 45 knots which is around 52 miles per hour.

About Portsmouth
Portsmouth is Britain's only island city, situated on the Portsea Island. The docklands area of Portsmouth have long been important for the Royal Navy (and, incidentally, home to the world's oldest dry dock) and there are a variety our walking and boat tours which will give you an insight into the city's past. The waterfront has recieved much needed renovation in the last decade. One result is the Spinnaker Tower which can be clearly viewed as you enter the port.

Getting to Portsmouth
