Kastro, the stunning site of the medieval centre of the island that was abandoned in the 19th century, is probably on the top of most visitors' lists when they come to the Sporades. Another site of historic value is the house of the famous Greek novelist Alexandros Papadiamantis in Skiathos where you can learn about Papadiamantis and his novels, written mainly about life on the Sporades.

Like most Greek islands, some companies in the Sporades charter yachts that travel around the turquoise Mediterranean Sea for a real view of the islands' beautiful and unique coastline. In Skopelos, the largest of the four inhabited islands, the architecture is noted as some of the most original and beautiful in the world and is a must see in Skopelos Town.

All the islands have fantastic beaches that are well worth a visit but perhaps the island with the most variety is Skopelos which you choose from great pebbly beaches to golden, sandy beaches all with traditional tavernas selling extraordinary Greek food and drink.
